Delete your account

You can delete your Hivetime account and data at any time, right in the app. If you no longer have the app, you can ask us by email instead.

Delete in the app

  1. Open Hivetime and tap your photo to open Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy and data, then Delete my account. If it says Sign in to delete your account, or is greyed out, sign in first, in Settings, then Account.
  3. Tap Delete account and data to confirm.

You're signed out on every device right away, and the deletion finishes within a few minutes. Want a copy first? Tap Download my data in Settings, under Privacy and data, before you delete.

Delete by email

If you deleted the app or can't sign in, email privacy@hivetime.app from the email address on your Hivetime account with the subject "Delete my Hivetime account". If you used Sign in with Apple with a hidden email, include that hidden address in your message if you can (it ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com). If you can't find it, tell us and we'll help you confirm it's you. Because anyone can fake the sender of an email, we first write to the email address on your account and ask you to confirm. Once you do, we delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner, and tell you when it's done.

What gets deleted

If you areWhat happens
The only parent in your family, or the only memberYour whole family is deleted: every profile, events, tasks, lists, booking links, connected calendars and children's information.
One of two or more parentsYour login, profile, private events, individual tasks and lists, connected calendars and booking links are deleted. Shared family events and lists stay for the rest of your family, without you on them.
A teen or other adult in a familyThe same as above: your own data is deleted, and the family keeps its shared items.

We also delete your devices' notification tokens, any data exports, and the feedback, crash reports and screenshots you sent. Reports we filed on GitHub from them keep the text with common personal details (such as your family's names, email addresses and phone numbers) removed, the app version, device model and iOS version, and for crashes the technical crash report, but nothing in them links back to you. Copies in our rolling database backups expire within 35 days. We may keep a minimal record that a deletion happened, or information the law requires us to keep. If your family paid after using a referral code from one of our partners, we keep a small record with the code, the month and the App Store's id for the subscription, so it's never counted twice (see the privacy policy).

Deleting the app from your iPhone doesn't delete your account. Deleting your account in the app also clears the copy saved on that iPhone, including photos, themes and Memories, which are kept only there, and deletes your Hivetime backups in your iCloud Drive. To be sure it's gone, or to delete any other Hivetime backup in iCloud (for example after deleting by email), open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage (on some versions, Storage), then Hivetime. Older iCloud backups of your iPhone are managed by Apple and are replaced as new backups are made.

Your subscription

Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription, because Apple handles billing. To stop being charged, open your iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Hivetime, then Cancel Subscription. For a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

If someone else in your family keeps using Hivetime, their access depends on whether a subscription in the family is still active.

Delete a child's information

Parents can delete a child's information without deleting their own account. In the Family tab, tap your child, then Remove from family. Their profile, photo and the events and tasks that were only for them are deleted. You can also email privacy@hivetime.app. Our children's privacy notice has the details.
