HivetimeBot fetches a single page when a Hivetime user asks for it. It isn't a crawler and doesn't follow links. It visits a page in two cases:
- A user shares a recipe link with Hivetime to turn it into a grocery list. We read the ingredients from that one page.
- A user subscribes to a calendar link (such as a school or team calendar in iCalendar format). We download it about every 30 minutes to keep their calendar current.
Requests come from Amazon Web Services addresses in the US East (Ohio) region and are rate limited. We don't store the pages we read beyond what the user saves, such as their grocery list or events.
